Ein Gedi is one of my favorite spots in Israel. This time, we got to hike all the way to the upper falls.
Ein Gedi is near the Dead Sea, amidst a barren wilderness. Here’s a picture of the sunrise over the Dead Sea taken from our hotel balcony.
David loved Ein Gedi, and wrote of Living (flowing) Water in a dry and barren land. Ein Gedi means “Spring of the Wild Goats” (also called the gazelle or ibex).
When David was fleeing from Saul, he hid in caves near here. Read about this in 1 Samuel 24:1-12.
May we thirst for God and go to Him as our Living Water.
Psalm 42:1-2.
[1] As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
[2] My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
Today, the Temple Mount, Caiaphas’ house, and the old City of David here in Jerusalem.
Shalom.
