In my sermon Sunday, I mentioned a lady who reasoned about the coronavirus and said to me, “If I leave my house, one of three things will happen: 1. I will go out and not get it. 2. I will go out, get it, recover, and have the antibodies. 3. I will go out, get it, and die. But, I will go to heaven. So any of the three outcomes is good. I’m in God’s hands.”
Is God really that involved in the details of our lives? Here are some of the Scriptures that encourage us that He is:
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows (Mt. 10:29-31).
You ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live…” (James 4:15a)
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord (Job 1:21b).
(God) works all things according to the counsel of his will (Eph. 1:11b).
God’s sovereignty is a rock on which we can stand no matter how fierce the storm. Nothing enters the lives of His children without first passing through the wise and loving hands of our Father in heaven.
Because of this, we can apply the words of Jesus: Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life… Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (Mt. 6:25-26).
How sweet for us as believers to know that our lives are in the hands of such a caring heavenly Father!
