Legacy

Gerri and I just experienced the joy of hosting our eight grandchildren, ages 6 to 17, for six days of “Camp Johnson.” It was a precious time of bonding, fun outings, devotional chapels, yard games, and lots of ice cream and desserts. We had never had all eight with us without their parents; but it was a blessed (though exhausting) privilege. We praise God that our daughters and sons-in-law teach our children about Christ and are involved with them in Biblical churches.

We often refer to our influence on future generations as “legacy.” In addition to personal and spiritual impact, our legacy can continue after we are in heaven, through our will, estate, and planned giving.

As your leaders at IBC, we encourage every believer to have a will and to honor the Lord, as our IBC Covenant says, “through our time, talents, and possessions” so that the Gospel is spread here and around the world. Young parents need a will to plan for the care of their children, in the case of their early passing and we as older Christians should think about the best ways to plan to give even through our future estate even after the Lord takes us to heaven.

Dr. Daniel Anderson is a long-term friend of IBC, Bible College president, and a knowledgeable leader to give biblical and practical advice in these areas.

We will be privileged to have Dr. A at IBC on Sunday, August 18. I urge everyone to attend his presentation on “Planning Your Legacy.” You will be informed, challenged, and encouraged.
