It is a joy to serve in a church that believes in and practices team ministry. We are led by a team of pastors and elders. Other ministries function as teams. This is biblical and effective.
When I think of our pastors, elders, and others, I think of the Apostle Paul’s terms for his co-workers, “fellow workers,” (3 John 8), “fellow elders” (1 Peter 5:1), “fellow soldiers” (Philemon 2), “fellow prisoners” (Philemon 23), “fellow servants” (Col. 4:7), etc.
That term “fellow” refers to true and deep partnership. A military illustration is the term “band of brothers” reflecting how close a common cause brings people. In Christ, the bond is as deep as it can get, as He is our head and we are His body: “From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint.” Ephesians 4:16 then goes on to declare, “when each part is working properly, (He) makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
I hope that you appreciate, as I do, each of our pastors, elders, deacons, deaconesses, teachers, and other leaders. Pray for us. We always want Christ to be our head and ultimate leader.
With this in mind, I am pleased to announce that this BLOG, “Heart to Heart” will no longer be Pastor Mark’s blog only. It will be a pastoral team blog; and others of our pastors will be posting articles occasionally.
For example, look forward to two good articles by Pastor Phillip Macdonald during this coming
“holy week” that feature encouraging truths about Easter.
What a joy to serve Christ together!
