John grew up in Bunker Hill, WV, and has been a part of Independent Bible Church since he was in the nursery. He has been privileged to be raised in a godly home. At the age of five, John trusted Jesus as his Savior, and later made his faith public through baptism. God used the influence of godly parents and people at IBC to deepen his relationship with the Lord through his teen years.

After graduation from Musselman High School (2008), John attended Appalachian Bible College near Beckley, WV. There he met his beautiful wife Melissa (married June 2013) and graduated with a B.A. in Bible/Theology and youth and family ministries (2012). Melissa also graduated from ABC with a B.A. in Bible/Theology and piano performance (2013). John then graduated from Baptist Bible College with an MA in Organizational Leadership (2015).

John served as a youth pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Beckley, WV (2011-2012) while attending Appalachian Bible College. John served as a part-time middle school coordinator at IBC (2012-2015) and in 2016 became Pastor of Middle School Ministries. In 2020 John transitioned to be the Pastor of Student Ministries.
